Vardy points the finger at Moss following his red card
It is a potentially-devastating blow to Leicester’s title challenge as their 21-goal top scorer is now almost certain to miss the trip to Manchester United on top of Sunday’s game with Swansea.
But the Football Association could also give him an extra game - ruling him out of Everton on May 7 - depending on how serious the Commission view the incident and if he swore and was slow to leave the pitch when sent off by Jon Moss on Sunday.
Leicester have also been charged for failing to control their players after West Ham were given an 83rd minute penalty and they are likely to be hit with a heavy fine.
Vardy was charged with disrepute after angrily finger pointing at referee Jon Moss and being slow to leave the pitch. Chelsea striker Diego Costa got an extra game suspension for failing to leave the pitch at Everton last month.
It is also understood that the FA are studying video footage to investigate whether Vardy called Moss a “f***ing cheat” or used another swear word.
Leicester have until Thursday 6pm to respond and are likely to respond to the charges but it is almost certain that Vardy will get at least one extra game if found guilty.
West Ham striker Andy Carroll who accused Moss of trying to “even things up” is likely to get off with just a letter asking for his observations.
Moss’s performance has been widely criticised after he gave two controversial penalty decisions and sent off Vardy.
But, incredibly, it has now emerged that the Premier League’s top two officials were not available for duty last weekend because they were told to rest before a UEFA fitness course this week

Former top referee and referees’ boss Keith Hackett slammed Moss’ “weak and inconsistent” performance and claimed the game was “too big for him.”
Hackett said: “It was the worst refereeing performance I have witnessed all season. Frankly this was too big a game for him – he failed to remain calm and in control. Tempo management was missing. He needed to put his foot on the ball.
“Moss was totally inconsistent with his decision making, highlighted by the large number of grappling offences that went unpunished.
“Crucially, we are seeing the product of weak refereeing throughout the season when it comes to grappling. The fact that referees are not penalising it in a consistent manner has made this a cancer in the game.”
