Equatorial Guinea president extends 36-year rule with a 93.7 percent of the total vote.

 Obiang Nguema

President Teodoro Obiang Nguema has been re-elected with 93.7 percent of the vote. While campaigning, he described himself as having “dedicated his life to the country,” but acknowledged “many” were tired of him.

Obiang – heading a coalition of 10 parties that includes the ruling Democratic Party of Equatorial Guinea – said: “We are a benchmark in democratic terms.”
The results announced by the National Election Commission showed the 73-year-old’s two closest rivals – Bonaventura Monsuy Asumu and Avelino Mocache Mehengap – trailing with 1.5 percent each in Sunday’s vote.
The Democratic Opposition Front (FOD) coalition of dissident groups boycotted the vote.
Turnout in the oil-rich west African country was also 93.7 percent. Commission chief Clemente Engonga admitted to anomalies in some of the results, with the number of votes cast in some areas exceeding the number of registered voters.

The results are subject to confirmation on May 2 by the constitutional court.
Seven candidates ran for the top job but Obiang was not seriously expected to be challenged.
He is Africa’s longest-serving leader, after ousting his uncle Francisco Macias Nguema in 1979 and having him shot by firing squad.

Complaints of fraud

“These were the worst elections ever organised in this country,” rival Asumu said, claiming that the vote had been marked by widespread fraud. Running for the fourth time, he said he had visited polling stations without ballot slips on polling day.

Another unsuccessful candidate, Gabriel Nse Obiang Obono, told AFP on Tuesday that he and 200 of his supporters had been barred from leaving his residence in the capital Malabo since the previous Friday.
Obiang’s regime has frequently come under fire from human rights groups for suppressing dissident voices and the media, as well as for widespread corruption.

With territory divided between the African mainland and islands in the Gulf of Guinea, Equatorial Guinea boasts the highest GDP per capita in Africa thanks to its extensive oil and gas reserves – with oil revenues accounting for over 70 percent of national income. But the country ranks 144 out of 187 states listed on the United Nations’ 2014 Human Development Index.

Cameroon: Music producers are so angry with the irregularities.Check out more.

cameroon music

The Cameroon music producers are fed up with the so many irregularities in the music industry as concern their sector of work. They are no longer finding it funny anymore.

Many artists need the services of producers in one way or the other either by making beats, mastering an entire song or just recording the artists. However, as it has been the case for a very long while now, many artists walk into recording studios and do their  work and abuse that of the producers by either not funding their right bills or paying far too little that demanded of them. The producers think that it’s time for this uncalled for attitude to cease.

Artists walk into recording studios majestically, get into the recording booth and rant about how they got a million dollar crib and cars yet cannot pay for their own art. Is this not a call for concern? When will this end if it is tolerated? Or is the music industry just for the artists or the producer too.

One of the top music producers and beat maker of Cameroon by the name Slim Beatz sent out this press release calling for all producers to meet and discuss what is at stake under the slogan “LE BEAT N’EST PAS NJOH,U NAKAM U PAYAM” translated as THERE IS NO FREE BEAT,U MAKE THE BEAT U PAY FOR IT. The press release said and I quote

“Some people say respect is earned but in the Cameroonian music industry today you have to force it on the faces and minds of those who continually disrespect the aspect of Music production and even the music producers. For people to respect what we do,we need to be professionals in every aspect of it.If you know you are a beat maker,or Music producer then make it a must to be in Douala on Sunday the 8th of April for an official meeting.
Venue : Douala Ndokoti Bonga Juice Bar 4pm Prompt
#LEBEAT N'ESTPASNJOH.
God bless y'all.”

Musicians please start paying for your production. Lets keep the right platform.

Cameroon FA partners with Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace chief executive Phillip Alexander
English Premier League side Crystal Palace has entered into partnership with the Cameroon FA to give a helping hand in development of the beautiful game in many a way.

Crystal Palace chief executive Phillip Alexander told the media on Wednesday that the club is looking at helping the federation improve in the marketing and communication departments as well as performance of coaches and staff.

Fecafoot president Tombi A Roko Sidiki who vowed to improve the state of football in Cameroon last September when he took over a Fifa Normalization Committee emphasized, “We hope that after 48 months in office, we have completed the 11 points of our plan of action.”

On this high profile list is the development of infrastructure across all regions especially the ones that will not benefit directly when Cameroon hosts Afcon 2019.

Alexander mentioned that the popularity of the English Premier League in Cameroon would perhaps instigate a move for Cameroonian football players to Crystal Palace as well as a establish a fan base in the Central African nation.

“We can be a good partner as a small and growing club. If we play our part we can win the hearts and minds of so many Cameroonians who follow the Premier League and maybe get a player to Crystal Palace.”
“Crystal Palace has values. We want to instill the same values in our players and our national teams,” added Alexander.

Crystal Palace is also looking into helping the senior national team to register positive results at Afcon and in the Fifa World Cup qualifiers.

Palace will face Manchester United in the FA Cup final on May 21 at Wembley for a chance at their first ever FA Cup title. The Reds have won it 12 times with the last time being 2004 under Sir Alex Ferguson.

United have only lost twice at home this season in 17 Premier League matches and are themselves still chasing a Champions League spot.
If Leicester fail to win at Old Trafford they could still be confirmed as champions if Spurs don't win at Chelsea on Monday.

But should their quest continue, Leicester remain hot favourites to wrap up the title at home to Everton on Saturday May 7 in a 5.30pm kick-off.
Everton, who are 11th, have not won in seven matches after losing their FA Cup semi-final against Manchester United at Wembley last weekend.

Maid in Kuwait is caught on secret camera pouring her urine into her boss's juice (photos)

A family believed to be Kuwaiti installed a secret camera in their kitchen after becoming suspicious of their maid's activities in their home. And what they discovered was shocking.

The maid was caught pouring her urine into her boss's juice after he requested a drink. The camera captured two women going about their daily chores while one of them prepared a drink.

She is seen stirring it and then heading away before the second maid walks over to the juice. Before she gets there however she quickly pulls a beaker of what purportedly contains her own urine from her trousers. She is then clearly seen topping up the drink with the liquid.

The video concludes with the woman returning to carry on with her job. She can be seen preparing food in the background. The man involved who has chosen to keep his identity secret has warned other families to be careful about who they employ and keep an eye on the activities of domestic staff.

Special Criminal Court Cameroon: Yves Michel Fotso Sentenced To Life Imprisonment

Yves Michel Fots

He was accused of embezzling 32 Billion FCFA belonging to the defunct national carrier, Cameroon Airlines, Camair, when he was General Manager.

The Yaounde-based Special Criminal Court, SCC, on Monday, April 25, 2016, sentenced Yves Michel Fotso to life imprisonment for embezzling 32.4 Billion FCFA during his tenure as General Manager of the defunct national carrier, Cameroon Airlines, Camair. The ruling was for the second of two matters for which Fotso is standing trial at the SCC. Fotso was also fined 19 Billion FCFA for the financial losses caused Camair as a result of the embezzlement. Also, money in about 15 frozen Fotso bank accounts was confiscated.

The ruling, just like recent court sittings, took place in the absence of Yves Michel Fotso and all his five counsel. The lawyers wrote to the court last February to announce their withdrawal from the trial, alleging unfair hearing. Their decision came after Fotso wrote to the SCC to announce that he will no longer appear in court because the trial was being conducted in a biased manner.

The judgement was delivered by a trial team headed by Mrs. Justice Virginie Eloundou, assisted by Mrs. Justice Siewe Yvette and Mrs. Justice Hayatou Zakiatou. The Advocates General were Mr. Justice Tagim and Mr. Justice Omam Fils. Earlier, after declaring Yves Michel Fotso guilty of embezzlement, Advocate General Omam Fils asked for the maximum jail term for the accused and the confiscation of his seized property and frozen bank accounts.

Counsel for the State, Barrister Sama Francis Asanga, supported the position of Mr. Justice Omam Fils, but also requested commensurate losses for his client caused by the embezzlement. Barrister Ngongo Ottou, lawyer for Camair Liquidation, asked for losses equivalent to 6 per cent annual interest on the embezzled amount of 34.4 Billion from 2010 to 2016. He also demanded 500 Million FCFA as cost for moral losses caused the Camair Liquidation Committee.

Prior to Monday’s sentence, Yves Michel Fotso was already serving a 25-year jail term for alongside others, embezzling about 21 Billion FCFA meant for the purchase of a presidential aircraft, the Bbjet 2. They were sentenced on September 12, 2012 by the Mfoundi High Court in Yaounde.

See the wife of Gambian President who ordered women to cover their hair (photo)

Earlier this year, President of the Islamic Republic of Gambia, Yahya Jammeh issued an executive decree ordering female civil servants to cover their hair during work hour. He is pictured here with his wife, First Lady Zeinab Suma Jammeh ...whose hair is not covered!

"All heads of Departments and Agencies are urgently advised to implement this directive and bring it to the attention of their female staff within their line departments and agencies," the memo reads.

Sounds like some of those biblical instructions of women covering their hair. However, I have been trying to figure out why a first Lady will pass such a law though? KD readers, help me out. Any idea?

The two-year toddler found with his father in the pool of a Montreal hotel Wednesday died Friday night in turn , confirmed the coroner's office Saturday.

William Tchouamou Ganjui, an American tourist 36 years from Cameroon, came to spend a few days in Montreal with her children to visit relatives. But his trip to Quebec took a tragic turn when he was in the pool at Residence Inn Marriott in west of downtown, with her two year old son and his five year old daughter.

Around 18:20, the hotel's residents found the lifeless body of Mr. Tchouamou and son at the pool bottom. A good Samaritan then jumped into the pool to try to save the life of the little boy a few minutes before the arrival of rescuers. The death of the father was found on the premises.

The investigation was entrusted to the Office of the coroner who will attempt to shed light on the circumstances of the accident which is not criminal according to the Police Department of the City of Montreal (SPVM). It is possible that Mr. Tchouamou has suffered a malaise.

On Facebook, friends of the family mourned the death of the Boston-engineer and son. "Little angel, it's your turn to leave. It's hard to accept, realize that you really are with your father. Go in peace little bird! "Christel wrote Muriel Sedo.

"I have no words, I am in the ineffable, my heart bleeds for this morning and say that I have listened to the last two days, until yesterday at 23h time here, you made us live your journey through the photos and the famous hotel and you have passed away. I am bewildered, stunned, not knowing even where to turn, "wrote Thursday the sister of the victim Christelle Ganjui.

On the fundraising website GoFundMe, more than $ 10,000 had already been raised in less than 24 hours Saturday morning to help the family of Mr. Tchouamou.

Hotel officials Marriott Residence Inn Marriott would not issue any comments.

In addition, funds raised now amount to about $ 15,000
