Johannesburg - A South African woman working as a producer at Turkish
broadcaster TRT says soldiers who attempted to carry out a coup d’état
entered their offices and demanded their cellphones at gunpoint.
“They
took over the TRT World offices and via gunpoint demanded the mobile
phones of staff… My colleagues and I are safe and have been sent home
until further notice,” Mishka Daries wrote on a Facebook published just
before 00:00.
She said she could hear the athaan (Islamic call to
prayer) and the takbir (proclamation of Allah hu Akbar - God is the
greatest) echoing from all the mosques.
“The Presidency of the
Religious Authority in Turkey has instructed imams, muftis and other
officials to read the athaan and protest the attempted coup.

Cameroon Journal, Yaounde - An authoritative source, who pleaded not to be named, has hinted The Cameroon Journal that negotiations with the national chairman of the Social Democratic Front, SDF, party are well on course for his First Vice, Joshua Osih, to be endorsed as the main opposition party’s candidate for the forthcoming presidential election.
Our source who’s adequately informed about the negotiations for Fru Ndi to endorse Osih, told us that the lobby is being done by a caucus within the party made up of some members who address themselves as “the group of wise men.”
The caucus, we are told, just rounded off a nationwide tour of the SDF basic structures to test the popularity of their national chairman and have come to the conclusion that Fru Ndi remains popular within the party ranks but that majority opinion suggests that he (Fru Ndi) should rather hold Osih’s hand and present him as the man to stand for the next presidential polls on the party’s ticket.
Our source further stated that going by the caucus’ findings, Fru Ndi remains the best man to hold the SDF strong but that it will be “disastrous” for him to be invested as the party flag bearer in 2018 given his advanced age of 75 and the dislike the French have for him. Fru Ndi celebrated his 75th birthday last July 7, 2016.

The driver of the truck however has been shot dead.
CNN affiliate BFM-TV reported that police and the truck occupants exchanged gunfire.
BFM posted an image of the truck that reportedly was involved in the incident. The photo shows what appears to be bullet holes in the truck.

The Cameroonian Minister of Civil Service and Administrative Reform (Minfopra), Michel Ange Angouing, has just launched a series of 13 direct competitive exams, to recruit young graduates in the Civil Service. Over 1,000 vacancies are open in sectors such as Posts and Telecoms, accounting, agriculture or environmental resources…
According to the management of this ministry, approximately 1,000 additional jobs will soon be available in the mining and geology, documentation, livestock and fisheries, land registry, civil engineering, midwifery, meteorology, etc, sectors. A 52-year old woman has been delivered of a baby girl at the Hospital Centre for Applied Research, Endoscopic Surgery and Human Reproduction (CHRACERH) in Yaounde.
The baby was born yesterday 12th July 2016 at about ten am following a one-hour caesarian.
This baby is the woman’s second child after the first, born 30 years ago.
The baby girl is one of the three children recently born at CHRACERH, an initiative of Cameroon’s Head of State and his wife, to improve fertility and save the life of women and children.
CHRACERH’s foundation stone was laid in 1999 and the centre was inaugurated on 6th May 2016.

The circumstances of the tragedy as given by the community sources, relate a brief exchange between the officer and the young man called Joseph Talla, The police commissioner asked the young man not to urinate on the street. The latter did not comply. The police commissioner shot him on the spot from a gunshot fired from his service weapon, "said the Ghomsi Urban witness.
