Congolese Rhumba maestro Koffi Olomide was arrested outside Royal Media Services offices on Friday evening and taken to JKIA police station.

Olomide had just been interviewed on Citizen TV (video above) before police apprehended him and his dancers.

Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet also ordered airport police to take immediate action against him.

The musician was arrested after a video of him assaulting one of his dancers went viral.

But during the interview, Koffi denied assaulting the dancer, identified as Pamela.

He said he was protecting her from a pick pocketing incidence at the airport.

At around five 5pm Koffi apologised to his fans and women over the matter.

“I watched the video with a lot of distress where it seems that I was assaulting one of my dancers. On the contrary I was defending my dancers from a lady who was threatening them at the airport,” he said

He also reiterates his respect for people, especially women.

Koffi was expected to perform at the Bomas of Kenya.

Accompanied by a team of six, the celebrated star landed at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport at 6.20am to a glamourous welcome by a group of Kenyan fans who had gone to receive him.

He was then driven to the posh Villa Rosa Kempinski hotel where he will be staying while here.
There was a little drama at the airport as Le Grand Mopao, for that is how he is referred to as by many, engaged in an altercation with one of his dancers. The dancer is said to have reacted negatively to a request by Koffi’s singer wife Cindy who is in his company.
Koffi, who was captured in camera telling the dancer off was calmed by police officers at the airport before he was shown to his car that immediately sped off.
Tomorrow’s concert is the biggest event in town and the VIP slots are already sold out.

Gunmen kill at least nine in Munich shopping mall, shooters on the run

Deadly shooting at Munich mall
Gunmen attacked a busy mall in the German city of Munich on Friday evening, killing at least eight people and sending shoppers running for their lives from what police said was a terrorist attack.

Authorities told the public to get off the streets as the city - Germany's third biggest - went into lockdown with transport halted and highways sealed off.

A police spokesman said three gunmen were on the run after the initial shooting subsided. The city was placed under a state of emergency as police hunted for them.

"We are telling the people of Munich there are shooters on the run who are dangerous," he said. "We are urging people to stay indoors."

Police said later that eight people had been killed and an undetermined number wounded. A ninth body had also been found and they were checking to see it was one of the gunmen.

Munich newspaper TZ said one of the shooters was dead. German news magazine Focus said a gunman had shot himself in the head. Reuters could not immediately confirm either report.

As special forces deployed in the city, some people remained holed up in the Olympia shopping center which police said had been evacuated.

"Many shots were fired, I can't say how many but it's been a lot," said a shop worker hiding in a store room inside the mall.

It was the third major act of violence against civilians in Western Europe in eight days. Previous attacks in France and Germany were claimed by the Islamic State militant group.

A police spokesman said there was no immediate indication that it was an Islamist attack but it was being treated as a terrorist incident

Donald Trump's campaign team issues statement on Melania's speech

Donald Trump's campaign team has issued a statement on the controversy surrounding his wife Melania Trump's speech at the Republican National Convention in Cleveland last night.

The keynote speech by Melanie contained two passages which match nearly word for word the speech that Michelle Obama delivered at the Democratic National Convention nearly 8 years ago.
"In writing her beautiful speech, Melania's team of writers took notes on her life's inspirations, and in some instances included fragments that reflected her own thinking," Trump spokesman Jason Miller said. "Melania's immigrant experience and love for America shone through in her speech, which made it such a success," Miller added.

Woman gives up her life for her baby to live

A pregnant woman diagnosed with stage-three breast cancer accepted death so that her baby could live. Nguyen Thi Thu Hien from Duc Pho District in Quang Ngai Province turned down chemotherapy which would have meant giving up her unborn baby.

Hien and her husband got married Nguyen Tan Thanh 18 years ago. The young couple later left their hometown in search of treatment for their infertility in the central coastal city of Quy Nhon.

Hien and Thanh gave up after multiple unsuccessful in vitro fertilization attempts they could barely afford. Hien was admitted to hospital after she slipped while delivering noodles to diners where she worked. Doctors diagnosed her with stage-three breast cancer and announced her pregnancy during that same hospital admission.

Hien’s only hope of saving her life was to have her breasts removed and to give up her unborn baby and undergo chemotherapy. But she refused instead begged to save her baby, even if it meant death on her part.

Hien became paralyzed after the sixth month of her pregnancy and at 8 months, afraid that she might not make it as she was becoming weaker by the day, the sacrificing mother asked to have her baby delivered through C-section.

The child weighed a mere 1.8 kilograms was born in the utmost happiness of the mother. After she recovered from the hour-long operation, the first thing Hien did was fumble for her baby, saying in tears,

"I do want to live like everybody else, but I can’t lose my child, for I wouldn’t be able to live if I did. The only thing I regret is not being able to breastfeed my baby, as my breasts have already been removed. " she said

90 people dead, 1154 injured and 1563 soldiers arrested during the failed military coup attempt in Turkey

At least 90 people were killed during overnight clashes in capital Ankara following an attempted coup in Turkey. Prime Minister Binali Yildirim said a new acting army chief of staff has been appointed after an attempted coup to topple the democratically elected government.

Turkish President Erdorgan has urged supporters to remain in public squares until situation returns to normal and has informed them that his govt. is still in charge.

He added that there is still a small disturbance in Ankara, hopefully it will be overcome soon, says Erdogan.

Defiant Turkish civilians were captured climbing on to tanks and yanking soldiers from their vehicles during the failed coup attempt by the nation's armed forces.

People across the capital of Ankara marched onto the streets to rise up against the army after the military intervention was staged earlier this evening.
President Erdogan had encouraged people to fight against the military planning the coup by saying:
‘They can come with their tanks and cannons and try to show what they can do, we can show the tanks who is powerful.’
"Those who are in this illegal act will pay the highest price," he added, saying it would not be correct to describe the move as a "coup".

In a shocking onlone video groups of Erdogan supporters were seen pulling soldiers from the turret of their tank and throwing them onto the ground as they chanted in support of the Premier. In another short clip groups of men were seen chanting at soldiers rolling through the streets of the Turkish capital in tanks.

During the coup attempt, some anti govt people had celebrated military intervention by gathering on the streets and waving Turkish flags. They said they were  unhappy about the way President Erdorgan was leading the country towards an Islamic state and the way he tries to trample on religious freedom in the country. After entering the capital soldiers seized the weapons of police units near the presidential palace and there was shooting near the police HQ.

Hostages were apparently being held at the military headquarters in the capital Ankara. Military jets and helicopters circled overhead.

However, Turkey’s military have claimed in a statement that they had taken ‘full control of government’ in order to protect human rights. They said government leaders had been detained and there were reports that the state broadcaster had been stormed.

‘Turkish armed forces have completely taken over the administration of the country to reinstate constitutional order, human rights and freedoms, the rule of law and the general security that was damaged,’ said the statement.

Turkish state news agency reports a death toll of 90 dead people and 1,154 wounded in Turkey coup attempt . The report further states that nearly 1,563 soldiers at the military Headquarter surrendered and have been arrested by the Turkish Govt.
