Azerbaijan detains Cameroonians for planning to defraud tourists during upcoming F1 race
Baku – APA. Azerbaijan’s law enforcement forces have detained four Cameroonian citizens for planning to defraud tourists on the eve of the 2016 Formula 1 Grand Prix of Europe which is due to take place in Baku on June 17-19.
Afghan citizen Farzad Abdul Ahmad, who is living in Azerbaijan, appealed to the Main Directorate for Combating Organized Crime operating under the Interior Ministry that unknown persons fraudulently took $50,000 from him under the guise of turning this money into $100,000 through specific chemical substances.
The detainees said in their testimonies that they came to Azerbaijan to defraud tourists in Baku during the upcoming Formula 1 race through the abovementioned method. Material evidence was seized from them and their houses.
Investigation upon the fact is underway.
