Former French international, Olympique Lyon and Cameroon coach, Paul Le Guen, will be in charge of the Super Eagles when the final round of the qualifiers for the Russia 2018 World Cup start in October, Completesportsnigeria.com understands.

Le Guen who was sacked as Oman’s head coach after his side lost 2-1 to Turkmenistan on Nov. 17 last year, has agreed a three-year deal to coach the Super Eagles and has also requested to reside in Lagos as against the proposed Abuja, a Nigeria Football Federation source has informed Completesportsnigeria.com..

Completesportsnigeria.com can also reveal that a top sponsor of the Nigerian Football Federation, a bank, has already agreed to bankroll the salaries of the Frenchman, and he could pick former skipper of the Super Eagles, Austin Jay- Jay Okocha, to be his first assistant on the job.

Le Guen who once coached Scottish side Rangers and PSG, Completesportsnigeria.com gathered, will earn about $50,000 a month which is more than double what Sunday Oliseh earned as Nigeria coach.

As at the time of this report, Completesportsnigeria.com cannot? ascertain when the Frenchman will assume duty as coach of the Super Eagles.

Le Guen’s coaching career has seen a mix of fortunes. He won three straight Ligue 1 titles with Lyon between 2002 and 2005 and got the club into the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League.

However, he did not do too well with Rangers and Cameroon. He was fired by the Glasgow club after only seven months in charge in the 2006 and 2007 season after a poor run of results.

Although Le Guen helped the Indomitable Lions qualify for the 2010 World Cup, they had a terrible tournament, becoming the first team to crash out after losing all three group games.

Salisu Yusuf is currently in charge of the Super Eagles on an interim basis after he led the Eagles to wins over Mali and Luxembourg in friendly games.
